Lightning Baccarat is a live dealer game from Evolution Gaming, and it follows a similar format to other “lightning” games like Lightning Blackjack, Lightning Roulette, and XXXtreme Lightning Roulette.
In this guide, you’ll find all you need to know about Lightning Baccarat. We’ll explain how the game operates, how it varies from traditional Baccarat, where and how to play it, and the best strategies for Lightning Baccarat.
Lightning Baccarat is a variation of the classic Baccarat game.
In this game, you place bets on either the banker, the player, or a tie. The goal is to get a hand total as close to nine as possible with two or more cards. If the total goes over nine, ten points are subtracted from the score.
In Baccarat, Ace is worth 1 point, while the 10, Jack, Queen, and King cards are worth 0 points. All other cards (2 through 9) are worth their face value.
Card | Value |
A | 1 |
10, J, Q, K | 0 |
2-9 | Face value (2=2,3=3 etc.) |

Lightning Baccarat differs from the classic game by introducing Lightning Cards and multipliers. At the start of each round, you have 12 seconds to place your bets.
After the betting period ends, the Lightning Cards and their multipliers will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. Each round can feature between one and five Lightning Cards, with multipliers ranging from x2 to x8.
If one of the Lightning Cards matches your bet, the multiplier will be applied to your win immediately. This is different from Lightning Blackjack, where you need to win twice in a row to get the multiplier.
You can also get multiple Lightning Cards in a single round and win several times from just one card. The game uses multiple decks, with the dealer drawing from eight shuffled decks.
In Lightning Baccarat, you can make two side bets: the Player Pair and the Bank Pair. These bets predict that the first two cards dealt to either the player or the bank will be a matching pair. It doesn’t matter what suit the cards are (hearts, diamonds, spades, or clubs).
In Lightning Baccarat, the payouts are quite similar to those in regular Baccarat. You still get even money (1:1) on both player and banker bets, which means you double your money if you win.
The main differences in payouts are seen with the Tie and side bets. In regular Baccarat, a Tie bet usually pays 9 or 10 times your bet. In Lightning Baccarat, it pays only 6 times. However, if you make a successful side bet, you could win up to 10 times your wager.
In Lightning Baccarat, you will have a chance to win big because you can unlock several multipliers in each round. If you bet on the bank or the player, you could win up to 512 times your original bet if three cards match the Lightning Cards and have an x8 multiplier.
The payouts can be even more impressive if you bet on a tie. If all six cards on the table match the Lightning Cards and each has an x8 multiplier, you could win 262,144 times your bet.
It’s hard to talk about a specific strategy for Lightning Baccarat because as a player, you have limited control over how the game unfolds.
Unlike Lightning Blackjack, there aren’t any actions you can boost your chances of winning.
When you play Lightning Baccarat at a live casino, the Return to Player (RTP) percentage is a bit lower than in standard Baccarat, averaging around 98.76%.
